Expedia Group Appoints Ramana Thumu as Chief Technology Officer

Expedia Group has appointed Ramana Thumu as its next Chief Technology Officer, effective December 2024. Along with heading the company's technology team to leverage its recent investments in tech and platform innovation, Thumu will be in charge of engineering, artificial intelligence, data, cloud platforms, and security. Reporting directly to CEO Ariane Gorin, Thumu will join the Travel Leadership Team and be based in San Francisco. Gorin lauded Thumu’s expertise in building multi-tenant technology platforms and his people-centric leadership approach, expressing confidence in his ability to drive Expedia’s growth and innovation in the travel sector.

Thumu brings over 20 years of experience leading transformative technology initiatives. Most recently, he served as Chief Product and Technology Officer at Fanatics Commerce, where he spearheaded the development of the Cloud Commerce Platform, an end-to-end e-commerce solution for personalized shopping experiences. His decade-long tenure at eBay included significant contributions to data, advertising, and personalization platforms that drove global growth. As he steps into his new role at Expedia Group, Thumu expressed enthusiasm for leveraging technology to enhance customer experiences and empower exploration, aligning with the company’s mission to transform travel through innovation and seamless digital solutions.
