Microsoft Expands LinkedIn CEO Roslansky’s Role to Oversee Office Software

Microsoft has expanded LinkedIn CEO Ryan Roslansky’s responsibilities to include oversight of its Office productivity software, now known as Microsoft 365. Roslansky will serve as Executive Vice President of Office while continuing as LinkedIn’s CEO, reporting to Rajesh Jha, Executive Vice President for experiences and devices. Satya Nadella, Microsoft’s CEO, informed employees about the organizational shift via an internal email. Microsoft acquired LinkedIn in 2016 for $27 billion, and the platform has since generated over $17 billion in annual revenue. With the new responsibilities, Roslansky’s portfolio will include popular applications like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and the M365 Copilot AI assistant.

Commenting on the development, Roslansky said in a LinkedIn post, “Office is one of the most iconic product suites in history. It has shaped how the world works, literally.” He added, “I’m coming into this role in a new, exciting era. Productivity, connection, and AI are converging at scale.” As part of the change, Charles Lamanna, who leads business and industry Copilot products, will also move under Jha’s group. Microsoft’s Productivity and Business Processes segment, which includes Office and LinkedIn, recorded an operating margin above 58% in Q3, compared to 33% in 2017, reflecting the unit’s rising profitability.
