Data security is now the top priority for UK HR leaders adopting new technology, according to Capterra’s 2025 HR Software Trends Survey. Among 296 UK respondents, 75% identified security as a critical factor when choosing HR software, and nearly half (46%) said it was the primary driver behind their most recent purchase. Additionally, 45% of HR professionals in the UK expressed concern over privacy risks linked to AI-enabled tools, higher than any other country surveyed. “With increased scrutiny and public trust at stake, HR leaders in the UK face mounting pressure to ensure that new software—especially those with AI features—meets the highest standards of data protection. Security should be embedded into every stage of HR technology adoption, from vendor selection to employee training, to foster trust and compliance,” said David Jani, Senior Analyst at Capterra.
The survey also found that UK HR teams typically manage five different HR tools, increasing risk if security is not consistent across platforms. Experts recommend choosing vendors with robust security certifications and implementing practices such as encryption, access control, and continuous staff training. Despite these concerns, 60% of UK organizations already use AI features in HR software. However, 42% cite a lack of internal expertise as a barrier to adoption, and 54% report difficulties training staff on these systems. Still, 55% of AI users report improved employee satisfaction, highlighting its potential when implemented securely and effectively.
