While much of healthcare is racing to slap “AI-powered” onto every product line, Chaim Indig is asking harder questions. “Clients don’t buy AI,” the Phreesia CEO told investors in the latest earnings call. “What they buy is solutions to really complex problems.”
Since co-founding Phreesia two decades ago, Indig has built a healthcare tech platform that powers patient intake, payments, and clinical data capture across thousands of organizations. Before founding Phreesia, he held key roles at Spotfire and OLAP@Work, building early expertise at the intersection of analytics and software. Indig is also a recognized business leader and trusted industry voice, and he remains a sought-after speaker in healthcare and technology circles.
And now, as generative AI floods the market, he’s standing apart by refusing to chase the next shiny thing. “We believe we are well positioned to continue to grow our network through product-led growth,” he said.
Under his leadership, Phreesia offers a platform for patient intake, appointment readiness, billing, and clinical engagement. In Q1 FY2026, the company reported $115.9 million in revenue, a 15% year‑over‑year increase, and $20.8 million of adjusted EBITDA, up 16.7% from the prior year. Phreesia has crossed 150 million annual patient check-ins and continues to grow across multiple verticals, with rising free cash flow and expanding partnerships.
After the COVID-era surge in digital health, Indig said that many provider groups were left wary of small, VC-backed startups that “pivoted strategies a couple of dozen times” and lacked the capital to scale. He adds that those customers are now returning to Phreesia, saying they “don’t really want to bet on a 10-person company that promises [them] the world.” AI, meanwhile, is enabling new capabilities across the platform, driving what the team describes as “massive value” for clients and a near-term return for investors.
He views AI less as a magic wand and more as one more tool in a system that already works. In a market eager for instant transformation, Indig is doubling down on thoughtful execution.
