Bumble announced that its founder, Whitney Wolfe Herd, will return as CEO. This transition comes as current CEO Lidiane Jones steps down for personal reasons. Jones, who joined Bumble after leading Salesforce’s Slack platform, will continue to serve as CEO until Wolfe Herd resumes her leadership role. Wolfe Herd expressed gratitude for Jones's contributions during a pivotal period for the company, acknowledging the strong foundation established under her guidance.
Bumble, launched in 2014, is a dating app designed to create a safer online dating experience by empowering women to make the first move. The company went public in 2021 with a market capitalization of $7.7 billion, which has since decreased to approximately $847 million. Bumble has stated that it anticipates reporting fourth-quarter revenue and adjusted EBITDA within its projected range. Alongside Wolfe Herd’s return, the company announced that Ann Mather, a lead director at Bumble, will become chair of the board of directors. Mather expressed confidence in Wolfe Herd’s ability to guide the company’s vision as it continues executing its strategic initiatives.
