Character.AI has appointed Karandeep Anand as its new Chief Executive Officer. Anand, who previously served as President of Brex and as Vice President and Head of Business Products at Meta. He has also held Executive roles at Microsoft. Over the past nine months, he served as a Board Advisor at Character.AI, where he contributed to shaping product strategy and user experience. As CEO, Anand will focus on advancing the company’s long-term vision by building on its multimodal AI technology and expanding its user base. Alongside this leadership change, Character.AI also announced that Dominic Perella has been named Chief Legal Officer and SVP of Global Affairs. "I recently took on the CEO role, but I’m not new to the company – I’ve recently been helping and advising the team at Character, and have been a big fan of the product for a long time,” said Anand.
Anand outlined several improvements planned for the platform in the coming months. These include enhancing memory and model quality, refining filters, improving search and discoverability, offering better character management features, and providing more clarity around content guidelines. He stated, “These aren’t promises for the distant future; I’m committing to launch all of that this summer and the team is hard at work to make all this real soon.”
