Datadog has launched three specialized AI agents—Bits AI SRE, Bits AI Dev Agent, and Bits AI Security Analyst—built to help engineering, development, and security teams diagnose and resolve application issues more efficiently. Announced at the DASH event, these tools enhance the company’s existing Bits AI assistant by offering automation in triaging alerts, generating code fixes, and investigating potential threats. Built on a shared-task architecture, the agents use high-quality observability data to deliver targeted insights. Features like Proactive App Recommendations and APM Investigator further support developers with performance optimization and root-cause analysis. Bits AI SRE is currently in limited availability, while the Dev and Security agents are in preview.
Yanbing Li, Chief Product Officer at Datadog, said the company is uniquely positioned to deliver AI value thanks to its access to vast amounts of clean, rich data and deep integration into customers' core engineering, development, and security workflows. “We process trillions of data points,” Li noted, adding that with recent advancements in AI reasoning and multi-modality, Datadog has moved beyond simply monitoring availability, performance, and security. “We now enable human-in-the-middle workflows by guiding customers on what to look for and where to start looking, and augment their ability to take action,” she said. Darren Trzynka, Senior Cloud Architect at Thomson Reuters, said that Bits AI helps operations and downstream platform teams gain the complete context of an investigation, from the initial monitor trigger to its conclusion, which significantly reduces resolution time and enables teams to focus on other tasks. These developments aim to streamline workflows and increase reliability in application management across cloud environments.
