Direct Relief Appoints Amy Weaver as Next CEO

Direct Relief, a humanitarian aid organization, has appointed Amy Weaver as its next Chief Executive Officer, effective May 5, 2025. Weaver currently serves as President and Chief Financial Officer at Salesforce and has previously held roles as Chief Legal Officer for a Fortune 500 company. She brings extensive leadership experience across finance, legal, operations, and corporate affairs. Weaver succeeds Thomas Tighe, who led Direct Relief for 24 years and expanded its reach to become the fifth-largest charity in the United States. Dr. Byron Scott will continue as interim CEO until May 4 and will then serve as interim Chief Operating Officer during the transition period.

Weaver has a strong professional background that spans business, law, and humanitarian efforts. In addition to her corporate roles, she has served on the Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity International and has volunteered in Kenya, Poland, and Puerto Rico. Weaver started her legal career as a clerk for the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and has worked in both the U.S. and Hong Kong. In a statement, Weaver expressed her commitment to furthering Direct Relief’s mission amid growing humanitarian challenges. She emphasized her excitement to collaborate with the team to advance medical aid and improve responses to urgent global needs.
