Everywhere Man Brant Morwald Leads Constellation1 Into the Future

Brant Morwald is, as Johnny Cash might have said, an everywhere man, having been born in Canada and traveled the world, but he might have found his forever home as President of real estate technology company Constellation1. This would be impressive for anyone, but Morwald is still just in his early 30s.

Prior to joining the company, he was the software industry version of what Hollywood might call a script doctor for struggling companies. “I would be parachuted into companies facing business problems, with different cultural experiences and cultures within the business,” he said. The incessant travel took its toll, but had its benefits, too. “I think there was one year I spent about 240 nights in a hotel, and I’ve already reached lifetime platinum status, which is either a good thing or a bad thing,” he joked.

Given the breadth of his experience, it’s no wonder that he’s thrived at Constellation1 and that the company has followed suit under his direction. If every business is in some way a top-down operation, Morwald has made sure that the quality of employees doesn’t dip as you travel down the company’s corporate ladder. “I make a point of surrounding myself with smart people and the absolute experts in their respective fields,” he said. “I rely on their expertise and their advice to not just devise Constellation1’s strategy, but to pursue it as well.”

That planning aspect—creating a web of solutions to help his clients—is a strategy he pursues with relish. “I always want to take on new challenges,” he said. “That’s why I like this environment, because I have the freedom to do that. So what’s going to keep me here and what’s going to keep me excited is us taking on new initiatives, new projects, looking at different market segments.”

An avid fisherman and golfer, Morwald occasionally turns his brain off from the business, as any healthy leader needs to do. But it remains a labor of love, and of constantly pushing into the next frontier. “Every week there seems to be a new development in AI and cloud computing,” he said, “and Constellation1 is at the forefront.”
