Google has appointed Preeti Lobana as the Head of its India operations. She succeeds Sanjay Gupta, who has been promoted to President of the Asia-Pacific region. A significant move as the company deepens its focus on AI-driven solutions in the competitive Indian digital market. Lobana, who joined Google in 2016 and previously served as Vice President of Advertising Technology, brings extensive expertise from her prior roles in banking at NatWest, American Express, and Standard Chartered. Lobana also expressed enthusiasm for leveraging AI to boost business productivity and create innovative solutions, describing this as a pivotal moment for the industry.
India remains a critical market for Google, where it has invested billions to expand internet access and digitize local businesses. The company committed an additional $10 billion to India in 2020, underscoring its long-term vision for the region. Despite these hurdles, Lobana’s leadership is poised to drive Google’s growth in India, focusing on advancing AI applications while navigating a complex regulatory environment.
