Lea Kissner Joins LinkedIn to Boost Security

Lea Kissner has joined LinkedIn as the new Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), bringing over 17 years of extensive experience in information security and privacy from renowned technology companies such as Google, Apple, and Twitter. In this critical role, Kissner will lead LinkedIn’s security and privacy strategy, focusing on the protection of member and customer data. They replace Geoff Belknap, who transitioned to a different leadership position at Microsoft, the parent company of LinkedIn.

Based in San Francisco, Kissner has held prominent roles in cybersecurity, including serving as the global lead of privacy technology at Google for 12 years and later working as Chief Privacy Officer at HUMU, security and privacy consultant at Zoom, and Director of Engineering at Apple. Most recently, Kissner was CISO at Lacework after starting as Head of Privacy Engineering at Twitter and advancing to CISO and Vice President of Engineering. In a recent LinkedIn post, Kissner emphasized the importance of their new role, stating, “I take that responsibility seriously,” and highlighted their belief that robust security enhances system functionality and reliability.
