Microsoft Unveils CoreAI Division for AI-Driven Future

Microsoft has announced the formation of CoreAI Platform and Tools, a new engineering division to accelerate its roadmap for AI applications and infrastructure. This division integrates key teams from Dev Div, the AI Platform, and the Office of the CTO, including AI Supercomputer and Agentic Runtimes, with the mission to build an end-to-end AI stack. CoreAI aims to support the creation and deployment of agentic applications with advanced memory, entitlements, and action capabilities, reshaping application categories with new UI/UX patterns, runtime systems, and management layers. The team will also enhance tools including GitHub Copilot, ensuring a seamless connection between AI applications and the AI platform.

Jay Parikh will lead CoreAI as Executive Vice President, with senior leaders including Eric Boyd and Julia Liuson reporting to him. The division will work closely with Cloud + AI, led by Scott Guthrie, to optimize Microsoft’s tech stack for efficiency and performance. As AI becomes central to all software categories, Microsoft is committed to transforming its platform and developer tools, including Azure AI Foundry and VS Code, to meet the demands of this shift. This initiative reinforces Microsoft’s goal of delivering innovative solutions and enhancing productivity for developers and customers worldwide.
