Qualcomm Incorporated has announced an agreement to acquire Alphawave IP Group through its indirect subsidiary, Aqua Acquisition Sub LLC, for an implied enterprise value of approximately $2.4 billion. The deal includes all issued and to-be-issued ordinary share capital of Alphawave Semi and is expected to close in the first quarter of 2026, subject to shareholder, regulatory, and court approvals in the UK. The acquisition supports Qualcomm’s strategy to expand in the data center sector by integrating Alphawave Semi’s connectivity and compute technologies with Qualcomm’s existing portfolio, including its Oryon CPU and Hexagon NPU processors. These solutions are designed to meet the growing demand for high-performance, low-power computing as AI workloads increase in data centers.
“Under Tony’s leadership, Alphawave Semi has developed leading high-speed wired connectivity and compute technologies that are complementary to our power-efficient CPU and NPU cores,” said Cristiano Amon, President and CEO of Qualcomm. Tony Pialis, President and CEO of Alphawave Semi, added, “By combining our resources and expertise, we will be well-positioned to expand our product offerings, reach a broader customer base, and enhance our technological capabilities.” The acquisition is expected to improve Qualcomm’s ability to deliver AI compute and connectivity solutions across high-growth sectors such as networking, storage, and data infrastructure.
