Siemens Acquires Altair to Expand AI-Powered Industrial Software

Siemens has completed the acquisition of Altair Engineering for an enterprise value of approximately $10 billion. Altair specializes in industrial simulation and analysis software, including mechanical and electromagnetic simulation, high-performance computing, data science, and artificial intelligence. This acquisition strengthens Siemens’ simulation and AI capabilities, expanding the Siemens Xcelerator platform with new tools to support digital twin technology. The integration of Altair’s expertise will help companies of all sizes accelerate product development and bring complex designs to market faster. Siemens aims to make advanced simulation more accessible across industries.

The acquisition is part of Siemens' ONE Tech Company program, which focuses on expanding digital revenue and investing in strategic growth areas such as software, AI-driven products, and connected hardware. Siemens President and CEO Roland Busch stated that adding Altair's innovations will create the most complete AI-powered industrial software portfolio, enabling businesses to enhance efficiency and sustainability. He also said, “Through the ONE Tech Company program, we will extend our leadership in industrial software. This enables all industries to benefit from the revolution driven by data and AI.” The company has also increased its investments in the U.S., surpassing $100 billion in the past two decades. With Altair’s capabilities now part of its operations, Siemens plans to further strengthen its position in industrial software and digital transformation.
