Stargate Project to Invest $500 Billion in AI Infrastructure

The Stargate Project, a newly launched company, plans to invest $500 billion over the next four years to develop AI infrastructure for OpenAI in the United States. An initial $100 billion will be deployed immediately to support AI advancements, create jobs, and strengthen national security. The company’s key equity funders include SoftBank, OpenAI, Oracle, and MGX, with SoftBank handling financial responsibilities and OpenAI managing operations. Masayoshi Son will serve as chairman. The project aims to enhance AI capabilities while supporting U.S. industrial growth and economic expansion. The first phase of construction has begun in Texas, with additional locations under consideration.

Technology partners including Arm, Microsoft, NVIDIA, Oracle, and OpenAI will contribute to building and operating this infrastructure. Oracle, NVIDIA, and OpenAI will work together to develop the computing system, continuing long-standing collaborations between OpenAI and its partners. OpenAI will also expand its use of Microsoft Azure for AI model training and service development. The Stargate Project aims to advance artificial general intelligence and support broader AI applications. The initiative is expected to play a significant role in shaping AI-driven innovation and strengthening the U.S. position in the industry.
