Synaptics has announced a partnership with Google to enhance Edge AI capabilities for the Internet of Things (IoT). The collaboration will integrate Google’s machine learning (ML) core, compliant with the multi-level intermediate representation (MLIR) compiler, with Synaptics’ Astra hardware. This union aims to accelerate the development of AI-driven IoT devices that process multiple data modalities, including vision, voice, and sound, allowing for context-aware computing. These advancements will improve interactivity in various applications, including wearables, home appliances, entertainment, and industrial systems.
The Synaptics Astra AI-Native compute platform is designed to offer scalable, low-power compute silicon for the IoT device Edge, supported by open-source software and tools. This platform is built on Synaptics' expertise in neural networks and AI hardware for the IoT sector. Google’s efficient ML core will complement this hardware, enabling Edge AI devices to meet the demanding requirements of power, performance, cost, and space. The collaboration reflects both companies' commitment to driving innovation and improving user experiences in the rapidly evolving Edge AI market.
