Key Products

Video Security

Verkada’s line of hybrid cloud security cameras combines powerful edge-based processing with the limitless capabilities of cloud computing. With Verkada’s hybrid cloud architecture, cameras analyze events in real-time, while simultaneously leveraging Verkada’s industry-leading computer vision technology for instantaneous insights that bring speed and efficiency to incidents and investigations.

From Command, Verakda’s centralized web-based platform, users can find the footage they need in seconds. With features like Motion Detection, People Analytics, and Vehicle Analytics, teams can quickly search across their organization to find relevant footage, eliminating the need to scrub through incidents manually.

All cameras have built-in onboard storage, including extended storage options up to 365 days of continuous recordings. With Verkada, organizations no longer need to worry about managing and maintaining devices like NVRs. Verkada cameras can self-manage, process and safely store footage locally on each device, while cloud-based archiving allows organizations to save and share as much footage as needed.

Available in a wide range of form factors, including indoor and outdoor models, Verkada security cameras work out of the box without any additional downloads or configurations. Users can access events and associated footage from virtually anywhere from any device. Most importantly, without needing to open port forwards or set up VPNs, all Verkada traffic is automatically protected with end-to-end encryption.

Access Control

Verkada Access Control combines simplified, enterprise-grade access control hardware with an integrated, cloud-based management platform for a solution that’s always simple, secure and ready for scale.

Starting with Verkada’s lineup of access control devices, organizations can bring the plug–and–play simplicity of Verkada to managing door access and security across their organization. Verkada’s lineup of door controllers work with Verkada’s AD33 door reader, Schlagewireless locks, Weigand or OSDP-based readers as well as third-party sensors, switches and peripherals. Verkada’s simplified hardware footprint minimizes on-premise infrastructure requirements – eliminating cost and complexity.

Once doors and devices are online, they can be managed via Verkada Command. The Verkada Command platform allows you to easily maintain door access schedules, role-based access control configurations, alarm and alert settings – from an intuitive single pane of glass. Taken together, Verkada hybrid cloud approach to security allows organizations to not only see what is happening at their points of entry, but also proactively enhance the safety and security of their building by more quickly identifying and taking action anytime instances occur.

Air Quality

Verkada Air Quality Sensors help customers monitor spaces where cameras cannot be deployed and get insight into environmental conditions that cameras cannot detect. From protecting school bathrooms against bullying and vaping to gathering real-time insight into air quality conditions like carbon dioxide levels, Verkada sensors enable customers to manage and protect their environments more comprehensively.

Verkada’s sensors are all-in-one-sensor devices that deliver a proactive, real-time and secure way to monitor, understand and act on complex environmental conditions across every type of indoor space. Designed for accuracy, speed and synthesis, the SV series environmental sensors monitor environmental conditions to identify important information and provide organizations with simplified, real-time tools and insights so they can protect populated spaces, monitor critical assets, catch targeted incidents and more.

Alarms

Verkada Alarms is a modern alarm system with built-in professional monitoring that helps you detect, verify and respond to threats as they happen.

Verkada Alarms lets you use any Verkada device – including cameras, intrusion sensors, access control, and environmental sensors – to detect intruders on your property before they can do damage. Professional monitoring comes included with Verkada Alarms, giving you a team of trained agents that can screen out false alarms and help you get priority police response.

Monitoring agents can also respond to threats for you, including calling the police or talking down to an intruder. You can also configure automated alarm responses, like turning on a siren or triggering a door lockdown.

Verkada Alarms is built on the cloud-managed Command platform, making it easy for organizations to set up, view and manage alarm events, devices, users and settings via a single dashboard.

Intercom

Verkada’s Intercom solution allows organizations to enhance security and answer calls from anywhere with sharp video, clear audio, four smart receiver methods and intuitive management and security tools in Verkada Command.

To provide sharp video and clear call audio, Verkada’s TD52 Video Intercom provides 5MP-quality video of callers in almost any lighting condition. An ultra-wide 130-degree Field of View (FoV) lens ensures that receivers can see callers, regardless of where they are standing. To ensure clear audio for callers and receivers, TD52 includes a powerful 5W speaker and two digital beamforming microphones. In addition to video intercom capabilities, the TD52 also functions as a security camera, recording all camera footage continuously for 30 days, regardless of if there’s an incoming call or not. Like all Verkada cameras, the TD52 deploys powerful AI tools like motion search and people analytics at the edge, giving organizations powerful video intercom and video security capabilities from an unparalleled vantage point.

To allow organizations to receive calls from anywhere, four smart receiver methods are available on the Verkada Pass mobile app, the Verkada Desk Station tablet application, via web browsers in Verkada Command and via existing phone numbers, allowing organizations to ensure that calls are always answered. Smart call routing allows organizations to specify who, when and how receivers should be contacted when a call comes in.

Finally, native integrations with Verkada Cameras and Access Control allow organizations to better secure their entrances without additional complexity. Context cameras can be paired with any intercom and access controls are accessible on every receiver method, allowing receivers to view important video security insights and unlock doors in a single tap, from any device.

Workplace

Verkada’s workplace management solutions simplifies facility operations by streamlining guest and mailroom management. Verkada Guest provides visitors with an intuitive and customizable check-in process that can include document signing, background checks, and automatic host notifications. Verkada Mailroom streamlines deliveries with a simple app to scan packages, notify recipients, and manage deliveries

Since its founding in 2016, Filip has spearheaded the organization’s growth to six product lines, 1,400+ employees, 14,000+ customers, and nine offices.

A builder at heart, Filip created CourseRank, his first startup, alongside two of Verkada’s other co-founders, James Ren and Benjamin Bercovitz, as a sophomore at Stanford. Filip and his partners sold it to Chegg.com less than four years after building it. After the acquisition, Filip spent four years as a Director of Product Management at Chegg.

Filip holds both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in computer science from Stanford University.

Hans Robertson, Executive Chairman

Hans Robertson is executive chairman and co-founder of Verkada, the Silicon Valley Unicorn disrupting the $100+ billion physical security industry. Founded in 2016, with just four employees, Hans has helped scale the business to more than 1,400 employees, 14,000 enterprise customers, and a valuation of $3.2 billion.  Today Hans, together with Filip, run the day-to-day business at Verkada.

Prior to Verkada, Hans co-founded another Silicon Valley Unicorn, Meraki, where he served as chief operating officer for almost a decade. During this time, he helped design the first cloud-managed enterprise networking products – including Wi-Fi, firewall, and switching systems – and led the company to a $1.2 billion acquisition with Cisco in 2012.

With more than two decades of experience as an entrepreneur – co-founding two industry-disrupting Unicorns – and investor, Hans has a proven history of identifying and scaling strong businesses. As an angel investor, he has successfully invested in 20 startups, many of which have been acquired by companies such as Facebook, Google, and Microsoft.

His career started at McKinsey & Company and then went on to serve as a leader at both EMC and VMware in the early years.

Hans holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He resides in the Bay Area with his wife, who is a Professor of Medicine, and their two children. Outside of his work, he is an avid skier and kiteboarder.

Kameron Rezai, CFO

Kameron Rezai is chief financial officer of Verkada, the Silicon Valley Unicorn disrupting the $100b+ physical security technology space. At Verkada, Kameron is responsible for overseeing all financial and corporate operations.

Prior to Verkada, Kameron served as managing director and chief operating officer of FutureAdvisor at BlackRock (NYSE: BLK) where he helped lead the acquisition of FutureAdvisor, a B2B enterprise digital wealth technology platform, in 2015.

Prior to joining BlackRock in 2011, Kameron was chief operating officer and head of client service for Structural Wealth, a venture-backed fintech. Earlier in his career, Kameron advised financial institutions on strategy and new products at McKinsey & Company and was a long-short equity hedge fund analyst at Elm Ridge Capital.

Kameron graduated magna cum laude from Yale University with a bachelor’s degree in economics and mathematics. He also earned an MBA in finance and strategy from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

Martin Hunt, Chief Technology Officer

Martin Hunt is the chief technology officer at Verkada and was Verkada’s third hire. Since joining Verkada, Martin has led and grown the software engineering team to now more than 240 strong.

Under his leadership, the company has expanded from its original product line, cameras, to now six distinct product lines (video security, cameras, access control, environmental sensors, alarms, workplace and intercoms) that provide an integrated physical security solution for more than 22,000 customers globally. Today, Martin’s team supports more than 1 million Verkada devices that are online in more than 70 countries protecting people and property. Martin also leads the company across product teams: security, infrastructure, mobile, VerkadaOS, and core platform.

Prior to Verkada, Martin spent close to a decade in engineering leadership at gaming companies, where he built high-performance game engines, educational tools, and HTML5 web portals. During that time, he also grew engineering teams at startups in Silicon Valley, Japan, and Vietnam.

Martin was admitted to the Stanford CS PhD program in 2010, but quickly saw an opportunity to invest his time in an entrepreneurial venture. He left Stanford to build a high-performance mobile game engine, which is what led him to spend his time in the gaming industry.

Martin resides in the Bay Area with his wife and daughter.

Organizational Insights

Verkada’s leadership team strongly believes human connection is at the heart of innovation and that our best work as a team is done when employees are together, in person. The investment in Verkada’s in-person, collaborative culture has been a key driver of the company’s growth: just last year, Verkada onboarded 385 new employees (+27% year-over-year) and now have a total of 16 offices, most recently adding Singapore and Seoul, bringing its total headcount to more than 1,800 employees across 16 total offices globally.

This collaborative work is especially beneficial for career development: our junior and early-career employees can ask questions, learn by watching, more easily give and receive feedback, and purposefully connect with colleagues.

Verkada has made significant investments in making each of our offices a great place to be, with carefully curated spaces and thoughtful perks that increase creativity, collaboration and productivity. Deliberate office design choices, such as the open, extra-wide central staircase in our HQ, paired with daily catered lunches and different snacks on each floor, intentionally encourage casual run-ins with colleagues across different teams. Perks like Verkada’s 3-3-3 program, which allows three or more employees to spend $30 on food and drinks if they go out together after 3 p.m., are unique ways to foster casual – but ultimately meaningful – interactions among the team.

While each Verkada office is designed for teams to do their best work, the company also focuses on building a culture that supports individuals’ well-being. Verkada offered and hosted hundreds of events big and small, ranging from fireside chats and cultural celebrations to casual team-building outings and activities. Its employee resource groups – called Communities at Verkada – also play a critical role in building belonging and supporting the well-being of its team. Current Verkada Communities include: Women at Verkada, Pride at Verkada, Multicultural Community at Verkada, Parents at Verkada, Verkada Moves, and Verkada Fit. Verkada also made an intentional expansion of parental benefits to include backup child care, a $250 stipend for meals during parental leave, covering adoption and surrogacy with our existing fertility benefit, and securing Milk Stork memberships for nursing mothers who travel for work.

Corporate Responsibility

While their mission is focused on the people and the property that they’re protecting, safety is something that they think about holistically as they build new products and expand their offerings. Ultimately, the platform that they’re building creates a safer environment in which people can live and thrive over the long term. To enable this, Verkada builds sustainable impact into its operations. Its people strategy, designed to support the company’s growth and positive impact, is a reflection of its responsibility to create environments, programs, and opportunities that enable employees and communities to thrive. Among the steps Verkada has taken to embed sustainability into its operations include:

  • Commuter Benefits: Verkada has an in-office work culture, and each office location has been chosen so employees can optimize public transit in their commutes. To further help employees reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions, Verkada provides $200 per month for each employee to use toward public transit options and other commuting expenses in their cities.

  • Office Sustainability: In Verkada offices that serve lunch and dinner, the company donates excess food at the end of each day to local soup kitchens, shelters, and non-profit organizations.

  • Verkada Gives: Verkada’s global philanthropic initiative allows the company to provide its time, products, and resources to causes that align with its mission. Since Verkada Gives was launched in 2021, Verkada has supported over 100 causes.

Verkada has also committed to reach net zero emissions by 2045. Current initiatives being implemented today in service of this goal include setting an environmental management system in place to measure Verkada’s carbon footprint, engaging with vendors and suppliers on enhancing their sustainability practices, and implementing a recycling program for Verkada hardware.
